In Memorium
You know how sometimes you get an itch and you just have to scratch it? Well that is what happened to me and it led to two new paintings, eventually, two years later.
It all began over two years ago when we were in the process of selling our house. My studio had to be kept tidy, in case there were people wanting to view the house. My studio is only ever tidy briefly when I have just tidied it, usually before embarking on a new project. My sister volunteered the use of her late husbands studio. He was a well known ceramicist and his studio, still with all the necessary tools and equipment to keep a ceramicist in business was unused. So I moved my easels and paints in and started painting, surrounded by reminders of his work.
Peter was known for his Kimonos amongst other things and I got the idea that I would paint a still life, or two based on some of his work. It became a bit of an obsession, but I was reluctant to start. What if I made a pig’s ear of it? But then, what if I make a pig’s ear of anything? I just don’t show anybody! I had made some sketches and taken photographs, all that was needed was to make a start. So I did.
They are completely different to anything else I have done in oil and cold wax, and I’m not sure what I will do with them, other than post them on here. If you would like to see his work follow the link https://www.petermoss.me.uk
We did sell the house and I now have a new studio, just in case you were wondering.
