Is it still January?

In my last post I commented on how the time was flashing by before I was ready for it to end, Autumn in particular. Not so January. January is taking forever, and there is still nearly a week to go. The constant rain is not inspiring at all. Today is a particularly grisly grey day. On the upside, the rainy weather has meant that I have been inside painting, a number of pictures have been completed , all centred around my visit to Norfolk or my walks around the village.

The landscape around here is very flat, we are on the edge of the fens after all. “Witham” and “Winter Fen” are inspired by the River as flows away from Lincoln, and Fiskerton Fen, a nature reserve, visited on a cold frosty day. This is a departure for me, I usually paint hilly, rocky places, even if I don’t intend to.

There are a number of events coming up where you will find my paintings.

6 February to 16 March, Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre, “Confluence”, a selection of Lincolnshire Artists. LN7 6LZ

17 February to 1 March, Fenland to Moorland, Margaret and Friends at Indigo Crow,

LN1 3JY, Where you will find some new paintings and some old ones.

I will also be teaching a couple of workshops during the second week, Abstract Landscapes in Oil and cold wax for beginners, and Atmospheric Skies. Check out the website if you are interested. www.indigocrowgallery.com
