When walking along Stanage Edge in Derbyshire you are likely to come across numerous old discarded millstones. The gritstone edges of the Peak District were famed for the quality of the millstones used to grind grain into flour, right up to the end of the nineteenth century. There are many discarded stones, some hidden in the ferns and long grass.
